Microsoft Office 2013 (MS Version 15) builds on and is a reasonable upgrade from Office 2010.

All of the CAPIX Desktop software is compatible with Office 2013 and no changes so far have been required to our software.

The jump and improvement from Office 2003 to 2007 was massive, going from Office 2007 to 2010 less so, and the move from 2010 to 2013 is hard to justify for existing installations. Don’t get us wrong – Office 2013 is the best version so far, however there isn’t a lot to justify upgrading from Office 2010 to 2013. We don’t think Microsoft will sell as many copies of Office 2013 simply because Office 2010 has been so good.

For new PCs with new installations of Office it would make a lot of sense to make the jump straight to Office 2013.

Office 2013 is available in both 32bit and 64bit releases, although the documentation from Microsoft seems to steer away from the 64bit release unless there is a compelling reason for it.

Office 2013 uses a lot of PC resources and we suggest having at least 4Gb of RAM installed; 8Gb would be better.

Office 2013 is a great software package and we encourage all of our clients to install it on new PCs, and stick with Office 2010 when it’s already installed.
